Before you buy

How do I get my API key?

Buy any plan through ToolSurf checkout. Your API account is created automatically and a setup link is emailed to the checkout address. Open it, set a password, and reveal the key from your dashboard.

What is a unit?

SEO data APIs bill units per request depending on the endpoint (light endpoints cost less, heavy ones more, and the exact cost is returned in response headers). Chat APIs bill 1 unit per message. Midjourney bills 1 unit per job of 4 images.

Can I use the OpenAI SDK?

Yes. The chat APIs are OpenAI-compatible: point any OpenAI SDK, LangChain, n8n or Make at https://api-chat.toolsurf.com/v1 with your ToolSurf key and pick the model name (chatgpt, gemini, grok, perplexity).

Do units roll over or expire?

Units reset at the start of each 28-day billing period. Unused units do not roll over. Fair-use daily caps also apply so one customer cannot exhaust the shared upstream account.

Can I rotate or revoke my key?

Yes. Regenerate a key from the dashboard at any time; the previous key stops working immediately. Keys are only shown in full when you choose to reveal them.

What if an endpoint I need is missing?

Unsupported routes return a clear 501 instead of silently failing. Tell support which endpoint you need and we will consider adding it to the gateway.
